Gary Herbert

Gary Herbert is editor-in-chief of Human Rights Review, an international, interdisciplinary journal published by Springer Verlag. The journal publishes scholarly articles on the moral and political interpretation and application of human rights legislation in the international community, and all related human rights issues. As editor of the journal, he was nominated in 2006 for the 25th UNESCO Prize for Human Rights Education, as editor of Human Rights Review.

He is also a guest editor for Hobbes Studies, a journal published by Brill Publishing.

His most recent work includes journal articles to come out this year: "Reconnoitering the Conceptual Foundations of Human Right" to be published in a book by the University of Pennsylvania Press, and "The Nonnormative Nature of Hobbesian Natural Law," an article recently published in Hobbes Studies.

In addition, he is at work writing a book entitled, The Moral and Political Philosophy of Immanuel Kant.  This is a major manuscript examining the interconnectedness of morality and political existence in Immanuel Kant's philosophy.

In October, 2006, Dr. Herbert was selected as the Rev. Guy LeMieux SJ, SAK Distinguished Professor. He was the recipient of Loyola's Dux Academicus Award in 2001.
